Prayer Works! And So Do Blessings!
As you already know I am a new to the Roman Catholic Church. Prayer has been hard for me because I don’t like to hear myself talk. I just recently realized that I don’t have to speak out loud all the time to pray. God hears me whether I speak, or say it in my head. There are tons of neat Prayer Books for Catholics. I have a bunch to help me learn to be a better pray-er. I have a hard time concentrating when there is a tv or radio on, so I turn them off to pray. The hardest for me is to pray when I get up in the morning. First of all, I need to get my caffeine, and Im a blithering idiot when I first get up. I can’t think, much less think of what to pray. But the least I can do is learn to start out my day, asking God for his safety, and his will to be done. I will try to be more vigilant in the morning and at least say “Hello” to God when I get up. I pray all the time. When I am in my car driving; sitting on my porch looking at the stars; while I’m at work, and when its quiet. When I think there is something scary, I follow what my Mom told me and I pray “ In Jesus Christ’s name, I reject satan.” And its perfectly OK, to say as Jesus said when he was talking to Peter in the Garden of Gethsemenie, “satan! Get thee behind me! If satan can butt into your business, he will all the time. He is a parasite, kind of like a chigger. He would like to burrow into your soul and darken it whenever he can. If satan can’t penetrate your soul himself, he’ll send his flunkies to do it for him. Have you ever had someone pass by, or enter into your life, that gave you a bad feeling of doom? A feeling of despair, or make you feel like a dirty rag? Or someone who just gives off really bad vibes? Have you ever had disgusting nightmares? Or felt like someone was stepping on your grave? Those are satan, or his pals trying to come into your life. Even while Im writing on this website, I have first prayed to God to protect me from satan. I also ask God to give me the words to write what I have written here. It is best to pray whenever you can. God always listens. Always. Sometimes when you ask for something that God doesn’t think you need, or if you are arrogant, and try to take advantage of God, he simply won’t allow it to happen. He knows what is best for you and always has. I guess I just ask for health, protection, peace, and to continue to become close to God. I also ask every day for God to protect my my family, my animals, my drive to work, my home, and my property, and my car to get me to where I need to go. I also pray for God to bless the Saints, Our Holy Father, my Catholic Church, all the people at Church, friends, coworkers, the people in purgatory too. The prayers during Mass Im learning to recite better. I love the Nicene Creed, and that one is really hard for me to memorize. It will take me years to do that. I finally learned how to pray the Holy Rosary, and while Im praying it I also add some prayers for my family members. Those prayers have been answered too. Mary has interceded and she will for you too. I advise any of you to sign up for Adoration at your Parish when you can. To spend an hour with Jesus Christ in his house, should be something every Catholic should do. Twice while I was going to RCIA classes I signed up on Friday nights to go to Adoration for an hour. That is when Jesus is exposed on the altar in the Eucharist and we spend an hour in front of him in person to talk to him, thank him, pray to him, and whatever you would like to do in honor of our Lord. I brought my bible and read some scripture during that time. When I was there, I felt overwhelming peacefulness, and love for Jesus Christ. I would like to go to Adoration more often, and will do so when I am not going to classes. One thing that I believe is a must is to also bring Holy Water from your Parish to your home and sprinkle it on all the entryways of your house. I keep a some here always. I pray while I am sprinkling it around, not to let anything evil enter my home. All of my Crucifixes, Bibles, and Rosaries have been blessed also, by my Parish Priest, or Pope Benedict XVI. I brought my new car to my Parish Priest to bless it. So, what I guess I can offer from what I have learned, is no matter how you pray, whether it be in your Church, or on your knees at home, or saying it in your head, Prayer Works! And never forget to thank God for each and every day, whether your prayers get answered or not. I love listening to Gregorian Chants. You will see GodTube videos all over my site with them. Please visit the videos below to listen and watch. They are beautifully done.
